FOUNDER AND OWNER

Leslye Renée Lopez grew up in central New Jersey, passionate about reading and the fine arts. She is a self-taught artist who, as a child, secretly dreamt of living in the Union Square Barnes & Noble bookstore in New York City. She has since made her peace with visiting it from time to time. She was nicknamed ‘bookworm’ at a young age by her older brother and has worn that badge of honor ever since. Leslye holds a B.A. in English, an M.A. in English and Creative Writing, and an M.S. in Strategic Communications.

As Leslye was writing The Bookstore Adventure: A Nya Sky Story, she became excited at the thought of publishing her work with a small publishing house. Then she thought, why not publish my own book? So she formed her own publishing company, Plan A Publishing House, LLC., because creating art for a living had always been Leslye's "Plan A."

Her imprint company, Roy & Rainy Press, was created in honor of her parents, C. Roy Epps and Lorraine "Rainey" Garvin, who introduced her to the wonderful world of books.

When Leslye is not writing, making art, or reading something, she can be found in a café, an independent bookstore, an art store, a library, or, of course, a Barnes and Noble Bookstore.

Leslye wrote, designed, and independently published her debut novel, The Bookstore Adventure: A Nya Sky Story (2023). Available in Braille.
